Summary

An app designed to help people to create a safety plan for times when they may feel suicidal.

The app helps you step by step to record:

  • Warning signs that you are feeling at risk
  • Ways to make your own space safer
  • Personal reasons to live
  • Actions that you can take on your own
  • People and places you can connect with
  • People you can talk to
  • Sources of professional help.

You can also choose to email a copy to trusted friends, family or your health professional to help them support you.

In case of emergency, you can click on an emergency phone icon on each screen to access sources of help.

Beyond Now is designed to be used as part of your overall mental wellbeing and safety strategy. It is not intended to be your only form of support.

Reviews

Reviewer: Beyond Blue, the Australian mental health charity which developed the app
Review:

“Beyond Blue developed the Beyond Now app to help you make your own safety plan to support you through times of sadness or grief. You can make it on your phone and carry it with you to access anywhere and anytime.

The app guides you through, step-by-step, with suggestions at each stage if you get stuck. You can work through this process by yourself, but it’s better if a family member, an Elder, health professional or support person works with you to make your plan. You can update it anytime and easily share it with others if you want.

Beyond Now is free to download from the Apple Store or Google Play and if you don’t have a smartphone, it’s also online.
