The ThaliMe app helps people with the rare group of thalassaemic blood disorders to:

  • Connect with a community of patients and caregivers
  • Learn about the condition
  • Keep up with the latest news
  • Manage their condition
  • Track medication use
  • Receive medication reminders
  • Monitor and track key symptoms and results, such as those relating to blood transfusions, iron status, infections, liver, heart and kidneys
  • Join virtual coaching programmes to work towards health goals.

The app was developed with the support of the international not-for-profit, non-governmental umbrella organisation, Thalassaemia International Foundation.

Reviewer: Thalassaemia International Federation [TIF], the not-for-profit umbrella patient organisation with members in 60 countries which helped to develop the app.

“ThaliMe is a much needed innovative mobile program, developed and deployed to greatly aid and improve the lives of people living with thalassaemia…TIF views this innovative approach to patient care and the use of mobile technology for patient empowerment and outreach as a critical component of the overall thalassaemia care…
…ThaliMe also helps to connect the worldwide thalassaemia community members to one another and to those who care for them. Through ThaliMe, patients are linked to private, peer to peer and peer to caregiver support networks to reduce isolation and improve the patients’ sense of support.”

Reviewer: Paul Dilorenzo, writing on the site for the US-based patient group Thalassemia Support Foundation

“Curatio and the Thalassemia International Federation, created a free private mobile social networking app for Thalassemia patients called ThaliMe. This app connects patients with each other through a specific matchmaking process, allowing them to create their own network of Thalassemia patients of their own choosing. There is also a medtracker feature on it with all the Thalassemia medications! Please check it out and share it with your fellow Thalassemia friends.”
