Review: “An innovative app that allows users to download their own virtual homeless person is causing waves across the Internet. The free app called ‘iHobo’ lives on your phone for three days, and enables users to make decisions impacting their virtual homeless person’s life (such as offering food, money or emotional support). Alerts are sent to notify the user when the ‘iHobo’ needs help (similar to that of an interactive electronic pet). The app features interactive live-action video footage. It aims to break down the stereotypes and misconceptions surrounding homeless people, and to see the difficulties they face living on the streets. If the user ignores his homeless friend, his life will spiral out of control. He will begin to spend his money on drugs, instead of food; he will sell his sleeping bag, and possibly even overdose on drugs.”
