Summary

The NMO resources app was developed by the US-based rare disease charity, the Guthy-Jackson Charitable Foundation.
The app acts as a core source of information and support on the autoimmune disease Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO), originally known as Devic’s Disease.
The app enables users to:

  • Learn about the disease through information, videos and Frequently Asked Questions
  • Find out about diagnosis, including criteria, tests, and potential relationships with other autoimmune diseases
  • Browse more than 100 videos including patient stories, and highlights from seminars and meetings
  • Keep up to date with the latest research, including news on clinical trials and treatments
  • Find support groups and clinicians with expertise in NMO
  • Access tools and support for patients
  • Prepare how to advocate for NMO patients
  • Keep all NMO notes and materials in one place
  • Support clinical research by donating blood samples to the foundation’s biorepository.
As patients with NMO may experience impaired vision, the app is designed to make it easy to adjust accessibility settings, for example, font size and thickness.
