Summary

Carbohydrate counter, insulin calculator, and food-nutrition-information app. Primarily aimed at helping children and young people learn carbohydrate counting (but can be of interest to any adult, and, in particular, adults who work with children). The integrated database contains 165 picture cards of common foods and beverages, which a user can browse by category, or via manual search. Each card shows a picture of the food, calorie count, carbohydrate count, other nutritional information, and typical serving amount. Custom meals can be created by combining foods and drinks, calculating total nutritional content, and adjusting the amount eaten accordingly. Based on user input, personal insulin requirements can be calculated to assist dosing. The user can add food not listed on the database by taking photographs with the smartphone’s camera, and inputting relevant data.

Review: “The app will help the user track the intake of carbohydrates. The app consists of a large database of food products that will allow the user to measure how many carbohydrates is in a meal. The user can add more products to this database. The app also has a calculator that will measure the needed amount of insulin, according to the amount of carbohydrates in a meal.”
